Artist's Comments

Part of what I do is making and carving 300 lb blocks of ice. After taking the summer off, I had to get back in carving shape and this is what appeared from that large block of ice.

What really stands out about la femme papillon by *PixelBlender other than the detailed work of the piece, is the immense amount of colour that radiates off it as it splits the light that passes through it, adding a whole new look and feel to the piece. (Featured by ^Thebuild)

Now that must take an extreme amount of talent! :D
Way to go!

You can always expect to lose. :nirvana:

Actually it probably takes more luck than talent in my case ;-). Thanks for the comment!

Stunning! Your sculptures are really pretty, especially this one.

92% percent of the teen population would be dead if Abercrombie and Fitch said it wasn't cool to breathe anymore. Repost this if you are one of the 8% who would be laughing your head off.

Thank you! This one did turn out pretty well. It is unfortunate that they're made out of ice and just don't last. At almost a meter or 3' tall though, you can't keep them in the refigerator freezer at home.

Wow this is beautiful.

Thanks again. Ice season is coming which unfortunately also means lifting these monsters. :-)

that is so beautifully detailed for something that melts. must be difficult to spend so much time on something that is fleeting.

smooth and stunning. never seen anything quite like it.

Thanks... At times, it is rather disappointing that the lifespan of these things is only a few hours at most but at other times, when the ice just doesn't cooperate or the carving just isn't up to par, you won't have this huge sculpture constantly staring you in the face ;-) either. It can, occasionally, have advantages.

good point . . . what turns to water cannot haunt. keep up the amazing work.
